At a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has been hitting businesses hard, Pavlovich Transport Solutions has made a bold investment, opening a new depot in the north west of Auckland.
The 1.2-hectare site is strategically located in what is a major growth corridor for public transport in the city. The project has been three years in planning with construction starting in May 2021.
The Westgate depot was operational at the end of August and has now been officially opened by the mayor of Auckland.
The location was chosen to ensure operations would support existing services well but also accommodate the expected significant growth in transport demand in the west.
Purpose built
The new depot is a busy place, operating 20 hours a day 7 days a week. It provides a home to more than 100 buses and coaches and the operations centre.
There’s large workshop, high quality office space with training and meeting rooms, a cafeteria and facilities for drivers and other staff.
The depot was designed to allow for a full transition to electric buses for urban transport, in line with Auckland Transport’s decarbonisation goals.
Pavlovich teams previously worked for more than 20 years out of a Mt Roskill site.
